Are you looking for some gifts for your loved ones for Christmas? Perhaps you would just like to experience some of that Christmas spirit because you are away from home and missing it at the festive time. Do you know about the new Christmas markets that are on this year? It is called ‘Istanbul handmade holiday market’. It is on from 11-4pm on Sunday 14th December. It is a collective of craftspeople, artisans and handmakers extraordinaire.
What can you get there? You can get everything and anything that is handmade. What does handmade mean- well pretty much exactly that. Unique handcrafted products. There is nothing mass produced or machine made. You can buy natural skincare products, aromatherapy products, soy candles and melts, natural gourmet treats, cupcakes, Christmas decorations, jewellery, cards, paintings, knitted and crocheted goods, baby clothes, Christmas cookies, felted products, ceramics, scarves and unusual lamps. The sellers’ fee will go to the chapel which runs a hostel (St Georges hostel) for refugees. All of this fee will go to the refugees minus the cost of the utilities used for the market. Sellers may also donate some of their profits to charity as well. There will be a special Christmas photography booth and even Santa Claus has said that he will drop by. Hope to see you there!
St Helena’s British Consulate-General Chapel, Meşrutiyet Caddesi, Tepebaşı, Beyoğlu, Istanbul- the entrance is from the Rixos hotel lobby.
